Piccuta Law Group Files Motion Requesting $195,000 In Attorney Fees Following Civil Rights Verdict
On June 26, 2017, the Piccuta Law Group filed a Motion for Attorney Fees in the matter of Bryant v. Gallagher. The highly publicized civil rights case resulted in a jury awarding the firm’s client $130,000. Judgment on the jury’s verdict was entered on May 18, 2017.
The request for attorney’s fees is authorized under a federal law that allows attorneys to recover attorney’s fees after prevailing on a civil rights claim. The Motion set forth that the firm had spent over 450 hours working on the case. The Motion further set forth that the firm should be awarded an increased amount due to the difficult circumstances surrounding the case and because Piccuta agreed to take the case less than three weeks before trial and after more than 140 other attorneys turned it down.
