Chuck Piccuta
Charles “Chuck” Piccuta is the founding partner of the Piccuta Law Group, LLP and has practiced law for more than forty years. He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where he was a stand-out baseball pitcher and football player. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois on a full-ride athletic scholarship for football and graduated with highest honors with a major in Political Science. He then attended Northwestern University, School of Law in Chicago on an academic scholarship. He was a member of the prestigious Northwestern University Law Review and earned his law degree in 1972 graduating with honors.
After graduating from law school, Chuck made the decision to serve his country and proudly joined the U.S. Navy where he was commissioned as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. As an officer of JAG, Chuck tried many cases early in his career. He was trial counsel stationed at the Naval Legal Services Office located at Treasure Island, San Francisco, Naval Base. There Chuck represented the United States Government prosecuting service members accused of common law crimes and violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. After leaving the Navy, Chuck went into private practice specializing in matters related to securities, real estate, contract disputes and consumer fraud. During this time, Chuck repeatedly obtained favorable settlements and verdicts for his private clients.
In 1990 Chuck returned to public service and took a position at the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court where he worked as a research attorney in the civil law and motion department. Chuck was well-respected during his tenure with the Court and served as a full-time judge pro-tempore for five years. In that position, he presided over the civil law and motion calendar. Chuck wrote and issued several opinions which were later affirmed upon review by the California Court of Appeals. In 1995 Chuck was nominated by Governor Pete Wilson for appointment to an open judge seat on the Superior Court. Although his appointment was not finalized, he still continued working full-time for the Court and found time to work with his previous private practice partner on several complex and high-stakes cases involving several millions of dollars.
After leaving the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court, Chuck continued to represent clients in both California state and federal courts. Chuck prides himself in taking complex and challenging cases that other attorneys find too difficult and too time consuming. Chuck now applies his forty years of practical legal experience and inside knowledge of the California Superior Court system for the benefit of his clients.
In his free time, Chuck enjoys spending time with his daughter Naneeah and his son Tony.
