Charles Tony Piccuta Examines Witnesses in Oakland Bar Beating Brain Injury Case
Last week, Charles Tony Piccuta spent three days examining witnesses in an Oakland bar beating case. Piccuta filed the lawsuit in Alameda County Superior Court advancing claims for battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent supervision. The firm’s client was a law student at Cal Berkley at the time. The beating resulted in a brain injury leaving the client unable to work and function normally.
The assault was unprovoked and initiated by security working at Somar Bar and Lounge. The Bar employed its own security as well as third party security personnel from a company called VMA Security. The lawsuit filed by Piccuta alleges that security personnel from both the Bar and the security company were involved. The lawsuit further alleges that the security personnel beat the client until he was unconscious and chased him into the street to do so.
