Charles Tony Piccuta Visits Stanford Hospital to Take Deposition of Highly-Regarded Trauma Surgeon
On February 13, 2018, Piccuta Law Group attorney, Charles Tony Piccuta, went to Stanford Hospital in Redwood City, California. Piccuta visited the hospital to take the video deposition of a highly regarded trauma surgeon, Dr. David Lowenberg, M.D. Dr. Lowenberg is the former Chief of Stanford Hospital’s Orthopedic Trauma Surgery Unit and specializes in traumatic injuries involving the non-union of bones and osteomyelitis.
Dr. Lowenberg is an orthopedic surgeon who treated the firm’s client. The firm’s client was severely injured as the result of a motorcycle vs. car crash that occurred on Highway 1 in Monterey County. The firm’s client was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle that collided with a car. The crash nearly ripped the client’s leg off leaving her with a near amputation and open tibia-fibula fracture. The client has undergone ten surgeries to her leg and was recommended for a leg amputation before seeking out the help of Dr. Lowenberg.
Dr. Lowenberg performed a series of complicated surgeries in an effort to reduce a bone infection that developed as a result of the injury. For five months, the client was required to wear an external fixator which holds the bones in place from the outside. An actual picture of the device on the client is below:
The Piccuta Law Group sued the driver of the car and the driver of the motorcycle for the client. The client is still trying to recover from her latest surgery and may require further surgeries. The case will go to a jury trial on April 30, 2018. The deposition of Dr. Lowenberg was recorded by video and will be presented to the jury at trial. The firm hopes to obtain a high seven figure verdict for its client.
