Piccuta Law Group Agrees to Represent Man Shot By Tulare County Sherriff In Civil Rights Lawsuit for Excessive Force
The Piccuta Law Group has been retained to represent a man shot by a Tulare County Sherriff’s Deputy. In August 2016, the firm’s client was involved in a dispute with the Deputy. After the dispute had subsided and the firm’s client was no longer a threat to the Deputy, the Deputy discharged all the rounds of his service pistol into the client. Fortunately, the client survived despite being shot multiple times.
The Deputy who shot the client had less than one year on the job. The Deputy was wearing a body camera. However, the Sherriff’s Department claims that no footage of the shooting exists. The Department claims that the body camera became disconnected during the dispute between the client and the Deputy. Conveniently for the Department, the body camera was allegedly disconnected when the Deputy unloaded every single round of his gun.
The client is facing criminal charges. The Deputy who shot the client was put on administrative leave. An investigation into the incident is still pending.
