Piccuta Travels to Midwest to Attend Trial Lawyers Conference
On August 10, 2018, attorney Charles “Tony” Piccuta of the Piccuta Law Group, traveled to Chicago, Illinois to attend a conference with other trial lawyers. The conference was attended by other established attorneys who primarily represent plaintiffs in lawsuits involving catastrophic and serious injuries. Attorneys licensed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nevada and Texas participated in the conference. In attendance were several members of the American Association for Justice as well as members of other prestigious trial lawyer groups.
There were presentations and discussions over the course of three days on several topics concentrated on trial practice and catastrophic injury law. These topics included: trial strategy, developments in personal injury law, tort reform, insurance guidelines, medical developments, the political climate on juror bias, legal financing, class action lawsuits, expert witness testimony, among others.
There were also several “break-off” focus groups conducted where members in attendance presented summaries of their cases and previewed evidence for opinions and feedback. The focus groups serve as a valuable tool that allow attorneys to obtain opinions from a collective group. A collective analysis presents new theories and ideas on how to view and win a case. Through the use of this process, attorneys are able to thoroughly learn the strengths and weaknesses of their cases and new approaches for use at trial.
