Third Newspaper Story Published About Excessive Force Lawsuit Filed by the Piccuta Law Group

Last week the Fresno Bee newspaper published its third story about a police brutality, civil rights lawsuit filed by the Piccuta Law Group against the City of Clovis and its officers. The Piccuta Law Group represents the Plaintiff in the lawsuit who sued for excessive force after he was beaten by four officers and tasered while in handcuffs following a routine traffic stop.

The Fresno Bee has been following the case and the efforts of the Piccuta Law Group to make public Internal Affairs investigations that led to the termination of one of the Defendant officers. The story, which was published on July 2, 2016, reports on the Piccuta Law Group succeeding in making the Internal Affairs investigations public and part of the court record for all to see. This is believed to be the first time in a civil rights, police brutality case where Internal Affairs investigations were made part of the public court record.
